QUETTA, Pakistan (Reuters) - The beheaded body of a kidnapped British doctor working for the International Committee of the Red Cross was found by the roadside on Sunday in the southwestern Pakistan city of Quetta, police and Red Cross officials said.

Khalil Rasjed Dale, 60, was abducted by suspected militants on January 5 while on his way home from work.

"The ICRC condemns in the strongest possible terms this barbaric act," ICRC Director-General Yves Daccord said in a statement. "All of us at the ICRC and at the British Red Cross share the grief and outrage of Khalil's family and friends."

Police discovered Dale wrapped in plastic near a western bypass road in the capital of southwestern Baluchistan province where Baluch separatist militants are fighting a protracted insurgency for more autonomy.

His name was written on the white plastic bag with black marker.

"A sharp knife was used to sever his head from the body," said Safdar Hussain, the first doctor to examine the body. "He was killed about 12 hours ago."

Dale had worked for the ICRC and the British Red Cross in Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq before coming to Pakistan. He had been managing a health programme for Baluchistan for almost a year when he was abducted, the ICRC statement said.

"We are devastated," Daccord said. "Khalil was a trusted and very experienced Red Cross staff member who significantly contributed to the humanitarian cause."

16 Dead After Islamists Bomb University Church Service Then Gun Down Fleeing Worshippers

16 Dead After Islamists Bomb University Church Service Then Gun Down Fleeing Worshippers:
The Islamist group Boko Haram has slaughtered hundreds of Christians this year in Nigeria.

The Islamists bombed the Christian service and then gunned down fleeing worshippers.
Zee News reported:
Kano: Gunmen attacked church services on a university campus Sunday in northern Nigeria, using small explosives to draw out and gun down panicking worshippers in an assault that killed at least 16 people, officials said.
The attackers targeted an old section of Bayero University’s campus where religious groups use a theater and other areas to hold worship services, Kano state police spokesman Ibrahim Idris said. The assault left many others seriously wounded, Idris said.
“By the time we responded, they entered (their) motorcycles and disappeared into the neighborhood,” the commissioner said.
After the attack, police and soldiers cordoned off the campus as gunfire echoed in the surrounding streets. Abubakar Jibril, a spokesman for Nigeria’s National Emergency Management Agency, said security forces refused to allow rescuers to enter the campus. Soldiers also turned away journalists from the university.
Andronicus Adeyemo, an official with the Nigerian Red Cross, said a canvas of local hospitals and morgues showed the attack killed at least 16 people. A number of people suffered injuries, though the aid agency did not immediately have an exact figure, Adeyemo said.
No group immediately claimed responsibility. However, Idris said the attackers used small explosives packed inside of aluminum soda cans for the assault, a method previously used by a radical Islamist sect known as Boko Haram.

Jimmy Kimmel Skewers Obama at 2012 White House Correspondents’ Dinner (Video)

Jimmy Kimmel Skewers Obama at 2012 White House Correspondents’ Dinner (Video):
Jimmy Kimmel hosted the 2012 White House Correspondents’ Dinner tonight in Washington DC.
He unabashedly took on President Obama.
“Mr. President, remember when the country rallied around you in hopes of a better tomorrow? That was hilarious. That was your best one yet… There’s a term for guys like Obama. Probably not two terms. Even some of your fellow democrats think you’re a pushover Mr. President. Thy would like to see you stick to your guns. And if you don’t have any guns they would like for you to ask Eric Holder to get some… You know the real reason people thought you were from Kenya had nothing to do with your birth certificate. It’s because you lost so much weight we thought you were the guy who won the Boston Marathon. This is how you know our country is in bad shape, our president is starving.”
Needless to say – This was fun to watch.

This one seems a bit gay, but hey, to each his own.

And a few other examples. For you Georgia prison investigators not yet familiar with Charleston Thug Life, we not only provide you a link to the inmate's page, but we also include posting dates on all of our screen captures. Have fun!

Once again - contact info for Hays State Prison. We TRIED to send them a note via their contact form, but it wasn't very cooperative. Feel free to give them a call.

On to the next one Charleston Thug Lifers!!!

Suspended twice from new Twitter account in less than 2 days (lol)

What can I say?  I'm good.

I started a new Twitter account to make it easier to keep up on 2012 election stuff.  I started following some of the same people I followed before.  @brooksbayne of "The Graph" was re-tweeting some of the hate tweets he was getting and I passed some of them along.

Yesterday I got suspended and then today I got suspended again, just for re-tweeting some hate tweets that I thought were amusing.  Has Twitter changed that much in just that sort of a time? O.o

Anti-Bullying Speaker Curses, Mocks Christian Teens

Anti-Bullying Speaker Curses, Mocks Christian Teens:
By Todd Starnes
As many as 100 high school students walked out of a national journalism conference after an anti-bullying speaker began cursing, attacked the Bible and called those who refused to listen to his rant “pansy asses.”
The speaker was Dan Savage, founder of the “It Gets Better” project, an anti-bullying campaign that has reached more than 40 million viewers with contributors ranging from President Obama to Hollywood stars. Savage also writes a sex advice column called “Savage Love.”
FOLLOW TODD ON FACEBOOK FOR CULTURE WAR NEWS
He was supposed to be delivering a speech about anti-bullying at the National High School Journalism Conference sponsored by the Journalism Education Association and the National Scholastic Press Association. But it turned into an episode of Christian-bashing.
Rick Tuttle, the journalism advisor for Sutter Union High School in California, was among several thousand people in the audience. He said they thought the speech was one thing – but it turned into something else.
“I thought this would be about anti-bullying,” Tuttle told Fox news. “It turned into a pointed attack on Christian beliefs.”
Tuttle said a number of his students were offended by Savage’s remarks – and some decided to leave the auditorium.
“It became hostile,” he said. “It felt hostile as we were sitting in the audience – especially towards Christians who espouse beliefs that he was literally taking on.”
Tuttle said the speech was laced with vulgarities and “sexual innuendo not appropriate for this age group.” At one point, he said Savage told the teenagers about how good his partner looked in a speedo.
The conservative website CitizenLink was the first to report about the controversy. They interviewed a 17-year-old girl who was one of students who walked out of the auditorium.
“The first thing he told the audience was, ‘I hope you’re all using birth control,’” she told CitizenLink. “he said there are people using the Bible as an excuse for gay bullying, because it says in Leviticus and Romans that being gay is wrong. Right after that, he said we can ignore all the (expletive deleted) in the Bible.”
As the teenagers were walking out, Tuttle said that Savage heckled them and called them “pansy asses.”
The executive director of the National Scholastic Press Association provided Fox News with joint statement from the Journalism Education Association that was sent to members – after a number of people complained about Savage’s remarks.
“We appreciate the level of thoughtfulness and deliberation regarding Dan Savage’s keynote address,” the NSPA wrote. “some audience members who felt hurt by his words and tone decided to leave in the middle of his speech, and to this, we want to make our point very clear: While as a journalist it’s important to be able to listen to speech that offends you, these students and advisers had simply reached their tolerance level for what they were willing to hear.”
The NSPA said they did not have a prior transcript of Savage’s speech and that wish “he had stayed more on target for the audience of teen journalists.” They also said it provided a “teachable moment” for students.
As for Savage’s attack on people of faith?
“While some of his earlier comments were so strongly worded that they shook some of our audience members, it is never the intent of JEA or NSPA to let students get hurt during their time at our conventions,” they wrote.
However, not once did the NSPA or the JEA offer any apologies to the students or faculty advisors or anyone else in attendance.
Candi Cushman, who writes a blog on CitizenLink, noted the irony.
“Using profanity to deride the bible – and then mocking the Christian students after they left the room — is obviously a form of bullying and name-calling,” she wrote. “This illustrates perfectly what we’ve been saying all along: Too many times in the name of ‘tolerance,’ Christian students find their faith being openly mocked and belittled in educational environments.”
Tuttle said that he “felt duped” by the event. “There were Christian schools who went to the conference. To have this happen was disappointing and shocking.”
The NSPA said they should have done a better job preparing schools for what to expect. For his part, Tuttle said that he will definitely be more cautious about the speakers at future conventions.
Tuttle related how Savage told students that for a number of years he was not allowed in schools. He told the students that because it’s gained national acceptance “he’s reveling in the fact that it’s basically a middle finger to all those teachers and administrators who wouldn’t let him have access to those students before.”
But for some of Tuttle’s students – they felt like the anti-bullying activist was in fact – the bully.
Here’s the full statement provided by the NSPA and JEA:
“We appreciate the level of thoughtfulness and deliberation regarding Dan Savage’s keynote address at the JEA/NSPA spring convention in Seattle. Logan and I have had the opportunity, both in Seattle and by email, to hear from advisers who are passionately against and passionately supportive of the choice to invite him to speak.
Many who expressed concern said they were surprised by the content of the speech, and they wished JEA and NSPA had done a better job of preparing them for what was to be expected. This is a fair critique. When we invited Savage to speak, we asked that he discuss his “It Gets Better” project, which has been an unprecedented social media campaign that relates quite directly to high school students. He agreed and turned over details to his speaker’s bureau contact.
We did not have a prior transcript or outline of Savage’s speech (nor did we for any other speakers), and of course the question-and-answer portions of our keynotes can become unpredictable. Yet Savage has appeared regularly in the news media, so we were familiar with his general background and the broad range of viewpoints he has made publicly. That said, we wish he had stayed more on target for the audience of teen journalists.
Which brings us to the second chief concern some attendees have made, which is the fact that some actually felt hurt by Savage’s comments, especially those aimed at religious beliefs. While some of his earlier comments were so strongly worded that they shook some of our audience members, it is never the intent of JEA or NSPA to let students get hurt during their time at our conventions.
Some audience members who felt hurt by his words and tone decided to leave in the middle of his speech, and to this we want to make our point very clear: While as journalists it’s important to be able to listen to speech that offends you, these students and advisers had simply reached their tolerance level for what they were willing to hear. They left quietly, peacefully, without trying to draw attention to themselves. They did not try to interrupt the speaker or loudly protest his remarks.
We have already heard from some advisers who have turned this into a teachable moment for their students. Dan Savage and his “It Gets Better” project are legitimate newsmakers, and we encourage you to reflect on this topic in your newsrooms. Some student newspapers have already written stories for their publication regarding his speech, and others are sure to write columns or editorials regarding his viewpoints. What are the coverage opportunities for your students?
As a whole, we were very pleased with all of the educational opportunities at the Seattle convention and we hope our attendees feel the same. As always, we love to hear both the darts and laurels regarding all of our convention programming, including the keynotes.”

The Second Coming of American Liberal Fascism?

The Second Coming of American Liberal Fascism?:
During the Bush years, Bush was often compared to Hitler or Mussolini,. The focus of the attacks had to do with wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and angst over the supposed erosion of civil liberties due to warrantless wiretaps, among other things. There was a lot of hyperbole. Bush was a monkey, a Nazi, a Fascist, the devil’s spawn. The hyperbole became so hysterical some conservatives jokingly took to calling President Bush “Chimpy McBushHitler Halliburton.” Many on the right go too far in attacking the motives of President Obama in the same way the left attacked Bush. It is neither rational nor sane.
President Obama is, unlike President Bush, a progressive, but he is not a fascist.
One must be careful to say such things clearly these days lest the outrage pimps on the left try to drum up outrage on less than clear precision of word choice. President Obama does however, like President Woodrow Wilson, seek to harness the power of the state for the collective good of the American people, even at the expense of the individual. Many on the right view it as a European style socialist tendency because he does so in the name of fairness and believes the government should decide what each citizen’s fair share is. Consider President Obama’s recent speeches on the free market and individualism and compare them to Woodrow Wilson saying, “American is not now and cannot in the future be a place for unrestricted individual enterprise.”
“Reasonable” people do not often talk of fascism in the modern American state, but fascist tendencies from an earlier time in American history, properly understood, are rearing up among progressives again as President Obama amps up his heated rhetoric against free enterprise, conservatives, and the wealthy. While President Obama is not a part of what it happening, it is clear progressives, inspired by his agenda, have taken matters into their own hands to extremes we have not seen for a hundred years.
Fascism, properly understood, is not a right-wing ideology. While many characterize it as such, Wikipedia, of all places, has a pretty accurate rendering, explaining that
[f]ascists advocate a state-directed, regulated economy that is dedicated to the nation; the use and primacy of regulated private property and private enterprise contingent upon service to the nation, the use of state enterprise where private enterprise is failing or is inefficient, and autarky.
During the First World War, Woodrow Wilson and the progressive movement used war as a means to rally society to the collective good of the nation. George Perkins, a financier of progressive causes at the time, boasted that the First World War “is striking down individualism and building up collectivism.” Michael McGerr, in his book A Fierce Discontent: The Rise and Fall of the Progressive Movement in America, cited one progressive who championed the war claiming, “Laissez-faire is dead. Long live social control.”
Jonah Goldberg, in his well regarded book Liberal Fascism, noted that “[m]ore dissidents were arrested or jailed in a few years under Wilson than under Mussolini during the entire 1920s.” Americans often ignore our history and often the media forgets history when it choses to report or not report something.
In May of 1918, several hundred publications were denied access to the postal service. As Goldberg documented in Liberal Fascism, “In Wisconsin a state official got two and a half years for criticizing a Red Cross fund-raising drive. A Hollywood producer received a ten-year stint in jail for making a film that depicted British troops committing atrocities during the American Revolution. One man was brought to trial for explaining in his own home why he didn’t want to buy Liberty Bonds.”
This was the state acting on its own. Consider though the American Protective League, officially approved by then Attorney General Thomas Gregory, and composed of private citizens acting as a “secret” organization. The organization harassed individuals and businesses, threatening and bullying any who stood in the way of the goals of the state. They spied on their neighbors, read their mail, and acted in ways similar to the variously colored shirted organizations in Europe and former European colonies. In fact, even Woodrow Wilson had misgivings about them writing Attorney General Gregory, “It would be dangerous to have such an organization operating in the United States, and I wonder if there is any way in which we could stop it?” Wilson did not stop it.
These were not right wingers. The APL and similar groups may have targeted unions, but did so on the belief that unions were disrupting activities of the progressive state, e.g. undermining Wilson’s war effort.
The re-emerged progressive movement, springing to action to “agitate” (their word choice) for President Obama’s agenda is troubling. There is a pattern of behavior within the modern progressive movement against dissent echoing the progressive movement during Woodrow Wilson’s tenure. Then, progressives engaged in fascist strategy and tactics to silence opposition to Wilson’s advance of the state over the individual. Many on the left then hailed Benito Mussolini as a hero and champion of progress in the way many on the modern left hail Hugo Chavez as the same. In the second decade of the twenty-first century, progressive activists are engaging in a similar pattern of intimidation and violence that they perversely think will help President Obama, even as he himself has voiced misgivings about their tactics and sought to distance himself from some of his most ardent supporters.

Using the IRS and “Good Government” Groups To Attack Conservatives

Someone within the Internal Revenue Service leaked to the gay-rights organization Human Rights Campaign the private Form 990 of the National Organization of Marriage. The form contains a list of major donors to the National Organization for Marriage. The IRS Form 990 is available for public inspection on request, but the law is very clear that donors are to have their information redacted.
In 2008, during the fight to pass Proposition 8 in California, the referendum to ban gay marriage, donors to the Proposition 8 cause were harassed and threatened. Now donors to the National Organization of Marriage should expect the same.
The American Legislative Exchange Council (“ALEC”) had its Form 990 donor information acquired by Common Cause, an organization funded by left-wing money and that the media describes as a “good government” group. In fact, National Public Radio reporter Peter Overby reported on ALEC’s 990 a few days ago raising “questions” about ALEC and its tax exempt status. Overby’s reporting cited Common Cause, described it as a good government group, and patently failed to mention that Overby had worked for the left-wing group before working for National Public Radio.
As noted, Form 990’s are available, though Common Cause and related groups are now targeting ALEC donors. It is unclear whether ALEC had redacted its 990 donor information.
The Common Cause attack on ALEC is, in and of itself, quite ironic. Common Cause’s mouthpiece at NPR, Peter Overby, documented Common Cause’s case as did a rather hostile bit of “journalism” from the New York Times. In essence, the “good government” group argues that ALEC is a non-lobbyist lobbyist, i.e. lobbies politicians illegally while hiding behind the veneer of not being a lobbyist.
Tom and Linda Daschle are big Common Cause donors. Tom Daschle, the former Democratic Leader in the Senate, didn’t pay his taxes and was, in fact, a non-lobbyist lobbyist. But Common Cause will take his money.
The Landmark Legal Foundation’s Mark Levin, also a popular radio show host, recently highlighted troubling IRS activities against tea party groups. Many tea party groups in the country claim the IRS is attempting to undermine their 501(c)(3) tax status. The IRS attempts go beyond normal tax challenges demanding specific information into family members, outside groups, affiliates, and deep background on individuals involved as officers of the tea party groups.
The use of the IRS as a political tool to intimidate opponents of the government is positively Nixonian, but only because the income tax and IRS were barely out of the fetal stage for Woodrow Wilson.

Home Vigilantes

Left-wing groups and unions have collaborated together to threaten and cajole private citizens. In Maryland, SEIU protestors and others showed up on the front porch of a Bank of America executive’s home to pound on his windows. He wasn’t home, but his child was who barricaded himself in a bathroom. This event might not have even been reported except Fortune Magazine’s Nina Easton lived next door. When she reported on it, she too was harassed. The only reporter at the event, which clearly was not designed for the media, was a Huffington Post blogger reporting sympathetically on the union activities.
In New Jersey, school union officials showed up at the home of a school superintendent yelling profanity and harassing the family. Involved were several school teachers who taught the superintendent’s family.

Intimidation of Businesses

Radical activist Van Jones, a former White House “green jobs czar” leads an organization called Color of Change. The organization, Media Matters for America, and others are leading coordinated attacks on businesses that choose to give money to conservative causes, advertise on talk radio, and the like.
They say they are boycotting, which is their right to do. Except these are not boycotts to advance rights as in the sixties. These are boycotts to shut down opposing views. When any side typically believes it is right, it often will encourage the other side to speak loudly so everyone can hear the wrongness of their views. Not so now. The left, no doubt unable to win in the battle of ideas, has decided to shut down the battle.
Businesses are harassed. In a Fox News interview, one business owner in New York who advertises with Rush Limbaugh told the anchor his business was targeted. Women in his office were called and harassed, spoken to crudely, and threatened.
Coca-Cola, Wal-Mart, and other businesses have all been targeted for harassment for giving money to conservative causes, though they give to liberal causes as well. The left is fine, obviously, with those donations.

The Koch Brothers

While the left is heavily funded by the billionaire felon George Soros, the collective organizations (and the White House) seem to have no problem attacking billionaires Charles and David Koch for funding free market think tanks and organizations committed to smaller government.
Using startling rhetoric from the Wilsonian era progressives, the left would have the American public believe that their use of billions from a foreigner turned American and felon is pure and noble, but the money spent by two brothers from Kansas is sinister.
Koch Industries has seen its businesses targeted for protest by the Occupy Movement. News shows have run less than flattering profiles of the Kochs. The New Yorker ran a hit job on the Kochs riddled with falsehoods and distortions that other left-wing activists in the media picked up, broadcast, and treated as gospel.
Recently, the left even accused the Kochs of funding George Zimmerman’s defense in the Trayvon Martin shooting. It seems no crime in America is salacious enough without accusations of involvement by the Kochs.
Progressive candidates now drop the Koch name casually suggesting their opponents are tainted by a relationship to Charles and David Koch. The Obama campaign routinely sends out campaign propaganda blaming the Koch Brothers for all of Barack Obama’s failures. During policy debates in 2010, Barack Obama’s economics adviser Austan Goolsbee revealed Koch Industries’ tax structure, information not publicly available. MSNBC blames the Trayon Martin death on the Kochs.
It is a concerted left-wing effort to make the Kochs the Typhoid Mary of American politics while casually ignoring its own money comes from a man convicted of insider trading, one of the very crimes the left highlights as a truly evil sin in capitalism.

Assaults on Religious Liberty

One the long held tenets of progressivism and fascism has been that everything should bend to the state, including religious organizations. In fact, in Liberal Fascism Jonah Goldberg notes,
Progressivism, from which today’s liberalism descended, was a kind of Christian fascism (many called it “Christian socialism”). This is a difficult concept for modern liberals to grasp because they are used to thinking of the progressives as the people who cleaned up the food supply, pushed through the eight-hour workday, and ended child labor. But liberals often forget that the progressives were also imperialists, at home and abroad. . . . [W]hile the God talk may have fallen by the wayside, the religious crusader’s spirit that powered Progressivism remains as strong as ever. Rather than talk in explicitly religious terms, however, today’s liberals use a secularized vocabulary of “hope”.
The rhetoric of religion as a social tool on the left has given way to a religious rhetoric for secularism while liberals engage in curtailing religious freedoms. Witness President Obama, in true Wilsonian fashion, rallying students to give “amens” over student loans.
The ever progressive Media Matters for America, which works hand in hand with the Obama Administration and other left-wing groups, openly declared on its IRS application for non-profit status that it would be an anti-Christian organization. Liberal attorney Alan Dershowitz and others have loudly attacked the organization for its anti-semitism. The organization routinely attacks Christian news outlets and attacks major media outlets as having a pro-Christian “bias in news reporting and analysis.”
Before the Supreme Court this year, the Obama Administration took the radically left position that the First Amendment does not contain a “ministerial exception,” a belief long held in American jurisprudence, though never actually before the Supreme Court, that churches have wide latitude in managing those it considers ministers of their faith. Even the American Civil Liberties Union would not go that far. The case, Hosanna-Tabor Church v. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, saw the United States Supreme Court not only finally formally recognize the ministerial exception, but reject the Obama Administration’s position in a 9 to 0 vote. Barry Lynn, who wears the title “Reverend” to give himself authority among the left as he seeks to undermine religious liberty in the country, assailed the unanimous decision saying, “Blatant discrimination is a social evil we have worked hard to eradicate in the United States. . . . I’m afraid the court’s ruling today will make it harder to combat.”
At the same time, Catholic Bishops openly fret about the government curtailing religious liberties, limiting them solely to worship.
HHS mandate for contraception, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs. The mandate of the Department of Health and Human Services has received wide attention and has been met with our vigorous and united opposition. In an unprecedented way, the federal government will both force religious institutions to facilitate and fund a product contrary to their own moral teaching and purport to define which religious institutions are “religious enough” to merit protection of their religious liberty. These features of the “preventive services” mandate amount to an unjust law. As Archbishop-designate William Lori of Baltimore, Chairman of the Ad Hoc Committee for Religious Liberty, testified to Congress: “This is not a matter of whether contraception may be prohibited by the government. This is not even a matter of whether contraception may be supported by the government. Instead, it is a matter of whether religious people and institutions may be forced by the government to provide coverage for contraception or sterilization, even if that violates their religious beliefs.”
State immigration laws. Several states have recently passed laws that forbid what the government deems “harboring” of undocumented immigrants—and what the Church deems Christian charity and pastoral care to those immigrants. Perhaps the most egregious of these is in Alabama, where the Catholic bishops, in cooperation with the Episcopal and Methodist bishops of Alabama, filed suit against the law:
It is with sadness that we brought this legal action but with a deep sense that we, as people of faith, have no choice but to defend the right to the free exercise of religion granted to us as citizens of Alabama. . . . The law makes illegal the exercise of our Christian religion which we, as citizens of Alabama, have a right to follow. The law prohibits almost everything which would assist an undocumented immigrant or encourage an undocumented immigrant to live in Alabama. This new Alabama law makes it illegal for a Catholic priest to baptize, hear the confession of, celebrate the anointing of the sick with, or preach the word of God to, an undocumented immigrant. Nor can we encourage them to attend Mass or give them a ride to Mass. It is illegal to allow them to attend adult scripture study groups, or attend CCD or Sunday school classes. It is illegal for the clergy to counsel them in times of difficulty or in preparation for marriage. It is illegal for them to come to Alcoholic Anonymous meetings or other recovery groups at our churches.
Altering Church structure and governance. In 2009, the Judiciary Committee of the Connecticut Legislature proposed a bill that would have forced Catholic parishes to be restructured according to a congregational model, recalling the trusteeism controversy of the early nineteenth century, and prefiguring the federal government’s attempts to redefine for the Church “religious minister” and “religious employer” in the years since.
Christian students on campus. In its over-100-year history, the University of California Hastings College of Law has denied student organization status to only one group, the Christian Legal Society, because it required its leaders to be Christian and to abstain from sexual activity outside of marriage.
Catholic foster care and adoption services. Boston, San Francisco, the District of Columbia, and the state of Illinois have driven local Catholic Charities out of the business of providing adoption or foster care services—by revoking their licenses, by ending their government contracts, or both—because those Charities refused to place children with same-sex couples or unmarried opposite-sex couples who cohabit.
Discrimination against small church congregations. New York City enacted a rule that barred the Bronx Household of Faith and sixty other churches from renting public schools on weekends for worship services even though non-religious groups could rent the same schools for scores of other uses. While this would not frequently affect Catholic parishes, which generally own their own buildings, it would be devastating to many smaller congregations. It is a simple case of discrimination against religious believers.
Discrimination against Catholic humanitarian services. Notwithstanding years of excellent performance by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Migration and Refugee Services in administering contract services for victims of human trafficking, the federal government changed its contract specifications to require us to provide or refer for contraceptive and abortion services in violation of Catholic teaching. Religious institutions should not be disqualified from a government contract based on religious belief, and they do not somehow lose their religious identity or liberty upon entering such contracts. And yet a federal court in Massachusetts, turning religious liberty on its head, has since declared that such a disqualification is required by the First Amendment—that the government somehow violates religious liberty by allowing Catholic organizations to participate in contracts in a manner consistent with their beliefs on contraception and abortion.
Only immigration is arguably a front opened by conservatives, and even now conservatives in Alabama are working to find a compromise to accommodate the religious.
Not documented in the bishops’ letter is the most recent attempt by progressives in Hutchinson, Kansas — yes Kansas — seeking to slide further down the slope on gay marriage by forcing churches to open their doors to gay marriage.
The left packages these issues as “womens rights” issues or “gay rights” issues and the like, but each encroaches directly on religious liberty, which the left has decided to devalue despite our founders enshrining it in the very first right within the Bill of Rights.

Conclusion

During the Bush years, dissent was hailed as patriotic. Whistleblowers were treated as martyrs. The media highlighted positively efforts to stand up to the man. Now the left is in charge. Dissent must be silenced. Conservative commentators must be driven from television and radio, businesses must be shut down if they fund conservative causes. Individuals who contribute money to conservative causes or engage must be harassed and badgered from the town square.
It is a pernicious strain of the progressive movement rearing its head. Its pattern of practice is too eerily similar to that strain of American fascism that reared its head almost one hundred years ago heading into the second decade of the twentieth century. Even the most benign liberal technocratic rule cannot, in the long run, admit dissent, because dissent is inefficiency, the enemy of technocracy. Dissent, good for the left, simply cannot be tolerated when the left is in charge.
Raising the concern is shouted down as unreasonable, but few can claim it reasonable to shut down opposing voices except the modern American Progressive Movement. In his book History of the American People, written in 1901, Woodrow Wilson sympathetically explained away the rise of the Ku Klux Klan in post Civil War America writing,
They took the law into their own hands, and began to attempt by intimidation what they were not allowed to attempt by ballot or by any ordered course of public action. They began to do by secret concert and association what they could not do in avowed parties. Almost by accident a way was found to succeed which led insensibly farther and farther afield into the ways of violence and outlawry.
In the 21st Century, the Occupy Wall Street Movement, hailed by the left, uses similar justification of taking the law into their own hands as they drop britches and poop on police cars, harass conservatives, and dribble out confidential IRS tax information on the opposition. That’s not to equate the Occupy Movement with a perniciously evil group, but it is striking how Wilson described the KKK compared to now.
Consider domestic terrorist Bernadette Dorn of the Weather Underground talking to an Occupy rally:
Agitation lights up the truth and what occupy has done by agitating in its non-violent, beautiful, imaginative way ["direct action," someone interjects] is to teach by shifting the frame really by remaining what’s possible. And what’s possible is that capitalism cannot solve our problems. It cannot solve any of our problems and the empire is in peril. Right? Who are the emerging countries in the world? They are the BRIC nations really. . . . So I want to keep us imagining that talking and educating and organizing goes with agitating, with direct action, with manifesting what we want to be.
She described the “agitation” as non-violent, but ended by saying that “organizing goes with agitating, with direct action.” What form of direct action has the left taken? Well, frankly, intimidation against others, violence, and civil disobedience to do what they could not at the ballot box. 400 people were arrested in Oakland, CA when Occupy Oakland turned violent. An Occupy Los Angeles speaker claimed violence would be necessary. In New York, Occupy Wall Street protestors tried to block access to Wall Street. The list of violence around the country is striking compared to, for example, the tea party movement the left had demagogued as racist and violent.
Mussolini, Jonah Goldberg noted, “defined socialism and fascism as ‘movement, struggle, and action.’ One of his favorite slogans was ‘To live is not to calculate, but to act!’”
The grand difference, however, between the left and right in this late struggle and leftwing attempts to punish dissent is that, as Conn Carroll wrote
The Occupy movement is predicated on the idea of protesters (the 99%) asserting control over something that does not belong to them (Zuccotti Park, McPherson Square, Frank Ogawa/Oscar Grant Plaza etc.). When you assert control over something that someone else owns (Brookfield Properties, the taxpayers, etc), there is eventually going to be a physical confrontation when that owner tries to reassert control. That is what we are seeing in police/occupier clashes across the country.
It is increasingly hard to just view the Occupy movement that way. The left, in general, is asserting control over things that do not belong to them and attempting to silence any dissent. Some on the right will blame the President or attribute it to the President. The right should be careful in stooping to the level of Bush Derangement Syndrome that so infected the Left in the Bush years.
Objectively, however, many people who wish to see Barack Obama re-elected will stop at nothing to advance what they believe is his cause.
We should not stay silent.

March radio ratings in for Rush Limbaugh

March radio ratings in for Rush Limbaugh:
PALM BEACH, Fla. – Radio host Rush Limbaugh says ratings are in for March, the month during which he faced severe criticism after calling a Georgetown University graduate student pushing insurance-covered birth control a “slut,” and he claims the news is good.
“For those of you new to the program, and by the way, we now know,” Limbaugh said this afternoon, “we got numbers in from March. Through the roof. Skyrocketing. All kinds of new people here.”
While the remark was just an aside thought from another issue he was discussing, it reveals Limbaugh has been tracking the size of his audience since last month’s national uproar in which some sponsors departed his program and other new ones joined.
While Limbaugh did not provide any specifics today, on March 29 he did disclose some early percentages.
“The simple answer is that on the range of all 600 radio stations, our ratings are up anywhere from 10 percent to 60 percent, depending on the station,” he said at the time.
“And that’s as detailed as I’m going to get. What I mean by that is we could be up 33 percent on one station, 12 percent on another, and 60 percent is the top that we’re up on another. We’re up 50 percent in a number of places. The advertisers who hung in here are going gangbusters, yes. I mean, that’s the simple truth. The only ones who got hurt are the ones who left. And that’s its own tragedy because they left under false, trumped up, unreal pretenses. I don’t want to relive that. I just wanted to answer the question without getting too specific, because everybody’s asking about it.”
Today Limbaugh also introduced a brand-new advertiser to his show, a tea-party offshoot called FreedomWorks,  an organization with 1.6 million members “openly committed to lower taxes, less government and obviously more freedom for each American.”
“I love these moments in the program and it’s gonna be happening more and more this spring as we announce brand-new sponsors here on the EIB Network,” he stressed.
As WND reported last month, Limbaugh claimed companies who abandoned his program were getting “creamed” financially.
“The people who have been hurt on this program are the advertisers who left! They’ve been creamed,” Limbaugh said at the time.
“The advertisers who’ve really been hurt are the ones who’ve abandoned here. I just assume everybody understood that. Let me tell you: We have 22 million people here [in our listening audience] who have stopped patronizing these people … . It’s major in many instances, the harm that has been inflicted.”
Among the first major advertisers to drop Limbaugh’s show were ProFlowers, Quicken Loans, mattress retailers Sleep Train and Sleep Number, software maker Citrix Systems, data-backup provider Carbonite and online legal-document company LegalZoom. Dozens of others, mostly in local markets and not nationally, followed suit.
Many of Limbaugh’s listeners have thought the broadcaster had taken a financial hit due to a boycott campaign promoted by leftists at Media Matters and elsewhere. They have been targeting his advertisers in the wake of national controversy for his calling Sandra Fluke a “slut” and “prostitute” as she pushed for insurance-covered birth control. He has since apologized for those remarks.
The head of Clear Channel, the national distributor of Limbaugh’s program, said the outrage over Limbaugh’s remarks was “part of the normal day-to-day of talk radio.”
“Rush is Rush and radio is radio,” CEO Bob Pittman told the Associated Press, referring to the host as “the king.”
“Rush is certainly the leader, and we’re delighted to have him.”
Pittman confirmed advertisers leaving the show did not have a large impact on the company, and there has not been a major move among stations to drop Rush. Limbaugh himself has noted other advertisers are lining up to replace deserters, and some of those who had left have sought to return, with one “practically begging to come back.”
The Sacramento Bee identified the company seeking to return as Sleep Train, but Limbaugh spokesman Brian Glicklich released an email suggesting a permanent split between the parties:
“Rush received your requests personally,” said the email. “Unfortunately, your public comments were not well received by our audience, and did not accurately portray either Rush Limbaugh’s character or the intent of his remarks. Thus, we regret to inform you that Rush will be unable to endorse Sleep Train in the future.”
Limbaugh maintains that those on the political left orchestrating the onslaught against him are feigning any previous financial support for the companies they’re trying to intimidate.
“These so-called angry consumers are not patronizing any of these sponsors. They’re just calling and then threatening them,” he said last month. “These so-called angry consumers (who are not angry consumers, they’re just Democrat Party operatives or people sympathetic to the Democrat Party) [who] are just calling and harassing and threatening them. They’re not buying anything from these sponsors.”
Limbaugh directed listeners to DefendSmallBusiness.com, a website run by the Small Business Authority, which is fighting back against the anti-Limbaugh campaign promoted by the leftist group Media Matters.
The website has numerous contacts for elected officials, national news outlets and even provides direct emails and a phone number for people to call Media Matters.
“Ask them why they are at war with small businesses,” the site says. “Be civil, don’t sink to their level. Call again if you think they didn’t listen to you carefully.”
Limbaugh says targeting his radio show and advertisers are nothing new, but it’s never been this focused because opponents “smell blood in the water.”
“And this is the first time that small business has not cowered,” Limbaugh said, referring to DefendSmallBusiness.com.
“Honest to God, folks. In 23-plus years this is the first time small business has not cowered and caved and gone away. And thought if they just shut up, it will go away. Because you know what they’ve realized? It won’t go away. The next show will just be the next target, the next host or what have you. In the meantime they’re not gonna be able to advertise their business. And they know that it works, and they want to be able to do that.”

Far Left Leaders Rail Against Governor Scott Walker at Union Rally – Scream “Cut Off His Head!” (Video)

Far Left Leaders Rail Against Governor Scott Walker at Union Rally – Scream “Cut Off His Head!” (Video):
Union supporters lambasted Governor Scott Walker (R-WI) at a protest in Springfield, Illinois.
One speaker called out to, “Cut off his head!”
Another union leader screamed, “Knuckle up! Knuckle up! Knuckle up!”
EAG Foundation reported:

From the video: Rev. T. Ray McJunkins of Springfield’s Union Baptist Church and USAction’s William McNary engaged in violent rhetoric to rile up a union crowd of thousands just yards away from an Illinois appearance by Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker. McNary challenged Walker to “knuckle up” while McJunkins said they’re going to “cut off his head,” likening Walker to Goliath.

ANGRY MOTHER Says Matthew Owens Deserved It for Using N-Word – Kids Are the Real Victims (Video)

ANGRY MOTHER Says Matthew Owens Deserved It for Using N-Word – Kids Are the Real Victims (Video):
An African American woman who lives on Delmar Drive screamed at News 5 about what she feels was unfair coverage in the Matthew Owens beating case. The mother said the kids were the real victims. Matthew Owens clings to life after 20 black neighbors, including women in skirts and children, beat him bloody with paint cans, brass buckles and anything they could find while screaming about justice for Trayvon Martin.
News 5 has more on the latest developments in the brutal beating.
Mobile police tell News 5 they still hope to make an arrest in the Matthew Owens case before the end of the night.
Owens was beaten Saturday night in front of his home on Delmar Drive. Witnesses, including Owens sister, say 20 black people attacked Owens with pipes, paint cans and chairs. Owens is still in ICU at USA Medical Center. Weaving in and out of consciousness, Owens told his brother Lloyd, “Don’t let me die.”
Police continue to downplay the Trayvon Martin connection to the beating. But a neighbor confirms what his sister told News 5. The neighbor, too scared to go on camera, told News 5′s Lauren Vargas that they heard one of the suspects say “This is justice for Trayvon” as she drove away.
Tonight, an angry mother who lives on the street told News 5′s Blake Brown that the kids who live on Delmar Drive are the real victims.
“Every single day it’s a problem with Mr. Owens concerning our kids,” Lemica Whisenhunt. “All these kids do is shoot basketball. We keep ‘em in the yard. They don’t bother anybody. We’d rather them play basketball than to be around here vandalizing, breaking into people’s homes. We try to bring our kids up the right way and show people that all black kids are not bad.

If this doesn't piss you off, there's something wrong with you: 4-Year-Old Girl Accused Of Carrying Gun By TSA After Hugging Grandmother

4-Year-Old Girl Accused Of Carrying Gun By TSA After Hugging Grandmother:
Excerpted from Daily Mail: Of all the many complaints about airport security and the TSA, one of the most common is that they make little distinction between plausible security threats and passengers unlikely to be doing anything wrong.
And a recent incident in Wichita, Kansas has reinforced that argument, as a four-year-old girl was apparently subjected to a humiliating ordeal after she hugged her grandmother while she was waiting in line.
The girl was accused of having a gun and declared a ‘high security threat’, while agents threatened to shut down the whole airport if she could not be calmed down.
When asked about the overbearing treatment the girl received, a TSA spokesman did not apologise and insisted that correct procedures had been followed. Four-year-old Isabella’s horrific experience in Wichita earlier this month was recounted on Facebook by her furious mother Michelle Brademeyer.
The family was in Kansas for a wedding, and was travelling home to Montana with Ms Brademeyer’s mother.
Ms Brademeyer and her two children had passed through security when the grandmother was detained after triggering an alarm on the scanners. In her terror, Isabella tried to run away rather than face a full body pat-down, which unsurprisingly enraged the TSA officers further.
One officer even told the girl’s mother that the airport would have to be shut down and every flight cancelled if the four-year-old did not co-operate.
They also apparently described the little girl as a ‘high security threat’.
As Isabella was taken into a side room for a pat-down, accompanied by her mother, she could not stop crying and refused to let the agents touch her.
An officer repeatedly said she had ‘seen a gun in a teddy bear’ in the past, in an apparent attempt to justify the situation.
Ms Brademeyer continued: ‘The TSO loomed over my daughter, with an angry grimace on her face, and ordered her to stop crying.
‘When my scared child could not do so, two TSOs called for backup saying, “The suspect is not cooperating.” The suspect, of course, being a frightened child. They treated my daughter no better than if she had been a terrorist.’

Obama Genocide Panel Chair Backed Invading Israeli Territory

Obama Genocide Panel Chair Backed Invading Israeli Territory:
The chair of President Obama’s new Atrocities Prevention Board once called for the United States to force troops into Israeli-controlled territory in order to end abuses she said were being committed by  both sides in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
National Security Council Senior Director for Multilateral Affairs and Human Rights Samantha Power, who chaired the first meeting of the board Monday following an appearance by President Obama at the Holocaust Museum, said in a 2002 interview that ”external intervention” in the form of a “mammoth protection force” was necessary to separate the Israelis and the Palestinians. She acknowledged that forcing our way in was undemocratic but insisted it was necessary.
Unfortunately, imposition of a solution on unwilling parties is dreadful. I mean, It’s a terrible thing to do, it’s fundamentally undemocratic.
The new leader of Obama’s anti-genocide effort failed to refute a suggestion by the interviewer in 2002 that the Israelis themselves might commit genocide. The interviewer asked,
Let me give you a thought experiment here, and it is the following: without addressing the Palestine – Israel problem, let’s say you were an advisor to the President of the United States, how would in response to current events would you advise to put a structure in place to monitor that situation, lest if one party or another be looking like they might be moving toward genocide?
Instead of getting up and walking out on this “thought experiment,” Power responded by appearing to imply a moral equivalence between the Israelis and the Palestinians, who were than waging an Intifada against the Jewish state.
She spoke of “major human rights abuses” occurring in the conflict and quoted New York Times Columnist Tom Friedman’s use of the term “Sharafat” two describe then-leaders Yassir Arafat and Ariel Sharon, both of whom she said had been “dreadfully irresponsible” and were “destined to destroy the lives of their own people.”
Here is a segment of the interview.

Power, you’ll notice, spoke sarcastically of the influence of U.S. Jews, saying with a chuckle her proposal to force troops upon Israel “might mean alienating a domestic constituency of tremendous political and financial import.”
She also suggested the United States was wasting its money supporting the Israeli Defense Forces, which safeguards Israel against another genocide, sneering at the “billions of dollars” we spend “servicing Israel’s military.”
Power backs the goals of the “Responsibility to Protect” movement, or “RtoP,” which advocates international military intervention in countries where the most egregious human rights abuses are occurring. She was reportedly a key force behind President Obama’s decision to intervene in Libya.

The Co-Founder Of Earth Day Murdered And Composted His Girlfriend

The Co-Founder Of Earth Day Murdered And Composted His Girlfriend:
Excerpted from MSNBC: Ira Einhorn was on stage hosting the first Earth Day event at the Fairmount Park in Philadelphia on April 22, 1970. Seven years later, police raided his closet and found the “composted” body of his ex-girlfriend inside a trunk.
A self-proclaimed environmental activist, Einhorn made a name for himself among ecological groups during the 1960s and ’70s by taking on the role of a tie-dye-wearing ecological guru and Philadelphia’s head hippie. With his long beard and gap-toothed smile, Einhorn — who nicknamed himself “Unicorn” because his German-Jewish last name translates to “one horn” —advocated flower power, peace and free love to his fellow students at the University of Pennsylvania. He also claimed to have helped found Earth Day.
But the charismatic spokesman who helped bring awareness to environmental issues and preached against the Vietnam War — and any violence — had a secret dark side. When his girlfriend of five years, Helen “Holly” Maddux, moved to New York and broke up with him, Einhorn threatened that he would throw her left-behind personal belongings onto the street if she didn’t come back to pick them up.
And so on Sept. 9, 1977, Maddux went back to the apartment that she and Einhorn had shared in Philadelphia to collect her things, and was never seen again. When Philadelphia police questioned Einhorn about her mysterious disappearance several weeks later, he claimed that she had gone out to the neighborhood co-op to buy some tofu and sprouts and never returned.
It wasn’t until 18 months later that investigators searched Einhorn’s apartment after one of his neighbors complained that a reddish-brown, foul-smelling liquid was leaking from the ceiling directly below Einhorn’s bedroom closet. Inside the closet, police found Maddux’s beaten and partially mummified body stuffed into a trunk that had also been packed with Styrofoam, air fresheners and newspapers.
After his arrest, Einhorn jumped bail and spent decades evading authorities by hiding out in Ireland, Sweden, the United Kingdom and France. After 23 years, he was finally extradited to the United States from France and put on trial. Taking the stand in his own defense, Einhorn claimed that his ex-girlfriend had been killed by CIA agents who framed him for the crime because he knew too much about the agency’s paranormal military research. He was convicted of murdering Maddux and is currently serving a life sentence.
Although Einhorn was only the master of ceremonies at the first Earth Day event, he maintains that Earth Day was his idea and that he’s responsible for launching it. Understandably, Earth Day’s organizers have distanced themselves from his name, citing Gaylord Nelson, an environmental activist and former Wisconsin governor and U.S. senator who died in 2005, as Earth Day’s official founder and organizer.
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Sen. Gaylord Nelson created Earth Day in the spring of 1970 as a way to bring national awareness to the fact that, at the time, there were no legal or regulatory mechanisms in place to protect the environment. About 20 million participants at various Earth Day events across the U.S. made Earth Day a success, and in December of 1970, Congress authorized the creation of a new federal agency to tackle environmental issues — the EPA.

More Anti-Semitism at Occupy Wall Street

More Anti-Semitism at Occupy Wall Street: (John Hinderaker)
Anti-Semitism is just one of many unsavory aspects of the Occupy Wall Street movement, but it helps to explain why mainstream Democrats have quietly dropped the “Occupy” crowd like a hot potato. We have documented several anti-Jewish incidents since the Occupy movement began; there was another one on the organization’s Facebook page yesterday, on Holocaust Remembrance Day. I am not sure how long this cartoon stayed up; long enough, anyway, to garner 54 “likes” at the time the screen shot was taken:

The cartoon makes no sense, of course–two organizations that Jews (here, Israelis, apparently) definitely don’t control are the U.N. and the Obama administration–but when did bigotry ever demand logic?
